There are many kinds of IT resources available to Engineering researchers. Whether it’s helping you install systems in your labs, getting access to a wide variety of applications software, or finding the right storage options for your project, we have staff that can help.
Computer Purchases
Researchers should consult with their department’s IT staff when purchasing new computers.
Re-purposing Student Computers for Research
Computers in student labs are frequently re-purposed for research use. Typically, the computer available are workstations that are 3 to 4 years old. Contact your department’s IT staff to learn what computers are available.
Commercial Engineering Software
There are many software titles available to researchers in the College of Engineering. Most of these products are available for research use, so long as 1) the products are not used for commercial purposes, and 2) the primary use is to support publishable research in the College of Engineering.
Many of these titles have a limited number of floating licenses which are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Researchers do have the option of paying for additional license if their, additional licenses can be purchased by researchers in the College.
